Global warming has become a big issue for governments and people because of the huge effects that may destroy our planet through changing the climate. The causes of global warming are numerous and day by day the scientists discover that it’s true , that we will face the reality of being threatened by these changes and we must act against it. For some, the work requires actual physical courage, a risk to life and limb in icy wastes or on the high seas (www.geocities.com). This essay will focus on the causes of global warming and the possible solutions which may reduce it.

First we should know that there are many reasons for global warming. Global warming is an increase of the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere which leads to make a huge climate changes. For example, melting of icecaps and glaciers (ice sheets), temperature rising. Several current trends clearly demonstrate that global warming is directly impacting on; rising sea levels, the melting of icecaps, and significant worldwide climatic changes (www.aip.org). First, the ice is melting and it leads to higher sea level, above the norm, which leads to flooded areas. Second, the temperature is rising because of emission from the factories around the world. A final factor is the weather changes. There are many changes in the world temperature causing drought and other problems.

Turing to solutions, there are many answers for global warming which can reduce the effect and damage. First is to read and learn about the environment. The world is making things that will affect our environment. Second, is that to save some electricity by reducing the use of machines. Finally is to stop using cars and start using bikes and walk when you can. . Governments should take their environmental issues seriously and implement policies to protect the environment from industrial monsters that emit poisons into our air and waste into our water. They should join environmental protocols and try to stick to their policies.

To sum, our planet is warming, and we as individuals and governments are helping make it happen. Everyone should do his role to protect our earth and ensure our future. In my opinion the most effective way to save our planet is to act immediately and start with ourselves and try to force our governments to act also.

Cool cities

Since the industrial revolution started many problems have appeared in association with the economic development of modern cities. One Solution is to build environmentally friendly cities.

The problems of modern cities are the emissions of CO2 and GHG. Most of the emissions are coming from transportation and buildings by (90%). The traffic and increasing population and cooling systems in shopping malls and most of buildings also contribute to G.W. Industrial plants also emit CO2 in large amount and their waste goes to sewage and harms the environment. For sure we don’t have more than one planet and we should protect it.

Solutions for these problems are to control the emissions by saving energy and acting against traffic problems .A main solution appears is to be building environmentally friendly cities (cool cities). These cities are designed to reduce GHG emissions and reducing energy by using the latest technologies. The energy is produced by using solar farms without using any fossil fuels. The transportation is without emissions because of the use of hybrid cars, and taxis using hydrogen. The buildings also use natural air, light and water and numerous compelling environmental technologies to reduce CO2 emissions. These cities can reduce CO2 by 60%.

I think that these cities are the solution for the environmental issues, but can everybody live there? Many people might not adapt, because of their lifestyle and the number of people to live there is limited (Salama, The National). So, I believe that convincing people to change their style of life is more important but there is no harm to try these cities, and to develop the technology for all to use.

An Inconvenient Truth

“An Inconvenient Truth”, which was presented by Al Gore, discussed Global Warming. He says that it’s a vital issue and should be dealt with. In addition, some people liked the movie but others have disagreed with the content. I’m going to talk about the two points of view.

There are arguments in favor of the movie. An important argument is that we have only ten years to avoid a big disaster which can make the weather change and extreme weather can happen immediately. If the weather changes there will be floods and many other disasters because of melting ice. Another thing is that this movie shows Al Gore’s obligation to make people think again about their environment, (rottentomatoes.com). Finally, people say that the movie motivates individuals to start taking action. Don’t wait for any political rules to start thinking.

Nevertheless, there are arguments against the movie. First, the movie is always giving the most disastrous situation. The movie says that the ice sheet of Greenland and Arctic will melt very fast and sea levels will increase 20 ft. Gregg East brook(slate.com) says that the newest studies show the sea level to increase only 2-3 inches during this century. Another counterargument is that the movie contains slightly creative film making. Last, the movie used information based on incomplete research. A current study says that 130,000 years ago the sea levels were higher by several meters than today.

In conclusion, although it can be seen that arguments for and against the movie are both strong, I feel that the arguments for the movie are a little stronger. I think that the evidence Al Gore gave is enough for us to realize that we are having a serious problem and we should act to solve it.

Global warming has done much damage to our style life. Masdar is a new idea to fight global warming. In this report I will mention the problem and the solution. There are many problems of global warming. First of all is that green house; boost the atmosphere green house gases. Another drawback is that deforestation is the blazing of trees and plants in forested areas and that will increase the carbon dioxide. A final problem is the climate changes, for example, cyclone and volcanic flare up. One Solution is to build surroundings cities.(cool cities).

The problems of modern cities are the emissions of CO2 and Green House Gases. Most of the emissions are coming from transportation and buildings by (90%).
